Deepening the Integration of AI Research and Industry to Strengthen Corporate Safety Foundations

On March 18, Fan Jiefeng and Huang Chun, vice presidents of the Guangxi Institute of Work Safety Science, led a delegation to Guangxi Gongkai Heavy Industry Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Gongkai Heavy Industry”) for a thematic research visit and exchange. Pan Xiuzhong, the company’s chairman, accompanied the delegation during the visit.

Fan Jiefeng and his delegation toured the corporate culture exhibition hall, the Party member activity room, the intelligent production workshop, and the product display area. They also inspected the full production process of the core production lines for tower cranes and construction hoists, as well as the truss-type hydraulic lifting work platforms. They gained a detailed understanding of the company’s equipment production standards, on-site safety control procedures, and the equipment lifecycle operation and maintenance system. They highly commended Gongkai Heavy Industry for its achievements in technological innovation and R&D, as well as standardized management of work safety.

During the symposium, both parties focused on the needs for transformation and upgrading of work safety in the heavy industry manufacturing sector. They engaged in in-depth discussions on three core areas: the implementation of “AI + Work Safety” technology, the pilot construction of digital safety management systems, and smart safety education and training. Together, they comprehensively explored new pathways for AI-driven industry-research integration and collaboration to jointly strengthen the safety foundation for high-quality corporate development. Given the industry’s characteristics—including complex production processes, high equipment maintenance requirements, and numerous safety risk points—the discussion centered on the practical implementation of AI in core scenarios such as digital and intelligent safety supervision, safety inspections, risk identification and investigation, and safety risk monitoring and early warning.

Regarding the pilot project for digital safety management, the two parties engaged in comprehensive consultations on the feasibility of implementation, the implementation framework, and the pace of progress. Based on GK Heavy Industry’s existing production scenarios and safety management needs, they preliminarily discussed plans for establishing a digital management system. They agreed to use the pilot project as a starting point to integrate both parties’ technical and scenario-based strengths, creating a closed-loop digital safety management system covering the entire production process and all stages. The goal is to establish a replicable and scalable benchmark for digital transformation in workplace safety within the heavy machinery manufacturing industry.

The two parties also exchanged insights on the development of smart safety education and training systems, sharing advanced industry practices, and reached a preliminary consensus on jointly developing customized safety training products for the heavy industry sector. Both parties expressed their commitment to integrating their professional resources and innovatively adopting smart, scenario-based, and interactive training models to create customized safety training products tailored to the realities of heavy industry production. This initiative aims to comprehensively enhance employees’ safety literacy and practical skills while addressing the industry’s shortage of customized safety training offerings.
